Aims & Objectives

Information Dissemination
This NGO aims at spreading information on the demography of ageing and its implication for
governments and other social institution concerned with the welfare of the ageing population.It will also seek to disseminate information on the ageing process and on some common diseases that affect the elderly.It will keep the elderly abreast with the HIV/AIDS pandemic and assist them to care for children of HIV victims.

Education, Training and Literacy
The CAAA will:
Promote community education on how to ensure comfortable and healthy ageing.
Establish literacy programmes to enlighten the elderly on pertinent, current socio-political
issues to reduce ignorance among them and to enhance their well-being.
Organize workshops, seminars, conferences and other training programmes for stakeholders
such as church leaders, community workers and students in higher institutions (Bible College,
Seminaries etc.)

Welfare
It will:
Form links with local churches, voluntary and statutory agencies to share resources e.g.
knowledge and skills to promote the welfare of the elderly population.
Establish facilities such as Day Clinics, Day Care Centres and Recreational facilities (Gymnasiums,
Swimming Pool, Theatres etc.) for the enhancement of the well being and quality of
life of the ageing population.

Research
Research and make recommendations to governments and other interested bodies and
agencies on issues affecting ageing to guide in the formulation of policies and planning for the
elderly.

Advocacy
Serve as a medium for advocacy on matters relating to the elderly, such as Government
policies, Human rights issues, Accessibility to public place (Bank, Post Officers, Hospitals,
Toilets, Churches etc.)


Use of ’Assistive’ Technology

The CAAA will:
Promote the use of Assistive Technology such as hearing aids, magnified texts, wheel chairs etc,
to enhance the well-being of the disable elderly.

Encouraging Voluntariness
Promote the productive use of the knowledge and experience of the elderly in voluntary
services in their communities.Encourage the public to offer voluntary service
to the dependent elderly and to assist them in their day-to-day living conditions.
